Why You Should Not Give Human Food to Your Dogs

If You’re Feeding Your Dog THIS Stop Right Away

How many times have you carelessly fed your dog leftovers? Or shared just a tiny bite of your food because you just can’t resist the begging look on their face? It’s better if you think twice next time you do it. No matter how much your dog begs for some of your food, it can often turn out to be extremely toxic for their organism.

Dogs guide themselves mainly through their smell. If something smells delicious to them, they’ll certainly want a bite; however, they’re not able to identify if this will harm them or not, so it’s your job as the owner to protect them.

We’ve put together a list of the many human foods you should avoid your pup from consuming in any quantity.

Almonds

It is important to note that while almonds are not toxic to dogs, they may obstruct the esophagus or even tear the windpipe if not chewed thoroughly. Salted almonds are particularly hazardous since they might cause water retention, fatal to dogs with heart disease.

Chocolate

You’ve probably heard about toxic chocolate many times. Chocolate contains poisonous chemicals called methylxanthines, stimulants that slow down a dog’s metabolic activity. Even a little chocolate, especially dark chocolate, can induce diarrhea and vomiting. Substantial quantities may also cause seizures, abnormal heart rhythm, and even death. Do not keep chocolate stored anywhere near your dog!

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is not as toxic to dogs, but it’s best to avoid it due to the risks of irritation. Cinnamon and its extracts can irritate a dog’s mouth cavity, making them uncomfortable and sick. It can lead to nausea, vomiting, and increased or decreased heart rate, and even liver damage if a dog ingests it in powder form. Cinnamon can also cause breathing difficulties, coughing, and choking if inhaled.

Garlic

Like onions, leeks, and chives, Garlic is a member of the Allium family and is five times more poisonous to dogs than any of these. Garlic can cause anemia in dogs, resulting in symptoms such as pale gums, increased heart rate, exhaustion, and collapse.

Garlic and onions may cause delayed symptoms, so if you believe your dog has eaten some, keep an eye on it for a few days rather than only right after intake.

Ice Cream

Ice Cream can be a refreshing treat; however, it contains too much sugar for your do. It can also be harmful if your pup is lactose intolerant. Nowadays, you can easily find ice cream made especially for dogs with organic ingredients such as peanut butter and fruits perfect for your dog to take his mind off your ice cream cone.
